Incorporating fun pieces into business attire has always been a passion of mine. When you are a girl on a budget, the last thing you want is to spend additional savings into two separate wardrobes. I wanted to be able to invest in pieces that I could wear to work as well as when at home, on the weekends or even a night out. Playing up your basics is your starting point especially if you aren’t one for bright prints or colors. While traditional wardrobe is great and all, adding trendy pieces can complete a look that will make heads turn.
Personally I was a little intimidated by the Wide Leg Pants, wasn’t sure if I could pull them off but loved the way they looked and the fashion forward statement they gave off. Finding the right pair can be a bit difficult especially when searching for the right fit, the right length and of course the color. The White Wide Leg Pants (wearing a size 0) from Ann Taylor are everything I was needing. The fabric is thicker and more structured, love the high waist for accentuating the waist line and the white is perfect for the summer going into fall. For those who prefer a darker pant, they also come in black and olive. I also love this Black Tie Front Pant, this Light Pink Sailor Pair and this Beige High Waist Pair.
As a huge fan of eyelet, I decided to go with the Eyelet Flutter Sleeve Top in navy (wearing a 00). The high neck button up is so flattering, also great for those who prefer a top without a collar, it’s also the perfect top for layering a statement necklace. It is available in Ivory as well, which pretty much goes with every shade of bottoms you may have. I am currently crushing on this Coral Tie Sleeve Blouse, this Tie Neck Blouse and this Flutter Sleeve Blouse (available in 3 colors).
For an additional pop of color these Yellow Platform Mules have be one of my favorites. The platform style gives you that additional height and comfort we crave so much in a heel. I have made it my goal to incorporate these with as many looks as possible, whether is jeans, skirts or cropped dress pants. They are also available in a cognac shade for a more neutral look. Also found these budget friendly versions: Vince Camuto Leather Platform (under $40), Charles David Milley Platform (under $40) and this Platform Wedge Sandal Mule.
