Don’t we all just get so consumed with work, school, tv and everything else in life that we forget to plan fun dates with your significant other?! Well Arnel and I have a moto going at our house, we try to always have mini dates through out the week. We plan spontaneous day trips and weekend getaways all the time, we love having lunch dates and taking walks. Whether it’s Taco Tuesday where we are cooking together, having a glass of wine or tea, free of phones and electronics; we turn the candles on and pretend we are back in Maui (dreamy right). Arnel gets to pick the tunes in the background because he always finds the best songs.
If you want to avoid the house for date night then you might really enjoy my suggestions, they are great for everyone and won’t break the bank.
Explore Your Local Farmer’s Market: This might be one of our favorite things to do, especially early on a Saturday morning, try a bunch of different foods, pick up some fresh fruit and all the fresh flowers. Arnel and I end up strolling around, holding hands, just enjoying each other’s company.
Take A Hike/Explore The Outdoors: It’s great to be outdoors and this is definitely Arnel’s favorite thing to do. That man could be outdoors 24/7, he loves finding new hiking trails, new wilderness to explore, ideally he would love to go camping with me but after 6 years I am just not giving in yet (too scared of potential being attacked by a bear, not even being dramatic).
Drive-In Movie: Okay, I want to do this sometime in the next few weeks when the temps cool down. Now all I need is a pick up truck with extra cozy blankets and a ton of pillows (probably something I have seen in a movie) wouldn’t that just be so romantic with some Dr.Pepper and popcorn. I am in!
Apple Picking: If you followed my blog last year you know that we went apple picking and showed up and all the apples were gone, so don’t do what we did and beat the rush now (it really was a funny story). In the previous years, apple picking was always such a fun thing to do. Growing up in Richmond and having all the Apple Orchards just 45 minutes away was literally a dream; the mountain views made apple picking that much better.
Trip To The Museum: Whether you enjoy art, science, history etc, there are so many great museums out there. When we were in a long distance relationship, we made an effort to always visit a new museum whether in Richmond, DC or Atlanta. Pretty sure we have seen them all, so they all hold such a special place in our heart. With his love for art (mine too) but I am such a science nerd, the Smithsonian Museums in DC were my favorite. PS fun fact: our first date was at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (this one might actually be my favorite). We try to go back every time we go visit my parents. Anywhoo, they really are fun!
Have A Picnic: Who doesn’t love a good picnic, pick a spot by the lake, in the middle of a park, near the mountains or even in your back yard. Pack a picnic basket full of fruit, cheese, sparkling juice and some yummy sandwiches. Enjoy the outdoors, talk for hours, catch up on life, be romantic, talk about your future together and live in the moment.
Wore this outfit for a date Arnel and I had a few weeks ago and received a ton of compliments on this Striped Button Front Skirt, it’s so fun and flirty! The vertical stripes are very flattering and the pockets are a girl’s dream, am I right? I didn’t even bring a handbag and honestly just kept my phone in my pocket and no one even noticed. My Button Up has been on repeat, love the crisp cotton and how a simple white top completes a look. I ended up tying a knot in the front which turned out just perfect. For a dressy look I added Suede Pumps (also available in black) but a pair of flats or sandals would be just as great.
