July is almost over and I have no idea where the time has gone, this month has flown by with the blink of an eye! It’s been such a busy one that more often than not I get home and I am just completely wiped out and quite honestly I don’t like that feeling, I don’t think anyone does. So I have been trying to change my routine a bit, taking more breaks during my work day, whether it’s a walk around the block or just a 10 minute stretch outside (really gets the blood flowing), indulging in more super foods and avoiding sugary snacks for a quick pick me up. When we are feeling a bit overwhelmed or completely exhausted we reach for that 3rd cup of coffee or that chocolate candy bar, but overtime that becomes a habit and just like anything else, habits can be a little hard to kill. For a while I was drinking coffee in the afternoons but noticed that created a vicious cycle; lack of sleep, sleepy through out the work day and thats when I notice myself falling into a horrible pattern and that does the body and mind no good. Which is why switching up a routine is what works best, if you work in an office space or on a lap top, take a few minutes every so often for quick stretch, or walk around outside, eat an apple, look away from the computer screen, phone and other electronic gadgets.
When I get home in the evenings, I truly take that time to unwind, relax and spend quality time with Arnel, even if it’s just for a few hours. This brain needs rest and time to recharge! This past week we have been trying to explore more places around the city, exploring new coffee shops and trying to find places where Arnel and I can both get some work and writing done while enjoying the outdoors. Though, the heat and humidity can get pretty brutal, we prefer early weekend mornings, the coffee shops are usually pretty empty first thing in the morning and the outdoor patio area has plenty of seating available. If you aren’t a coffee drinker like Arnel (I don’t know how he does it, coffee is one habit I can’t quite quit, working on it though) there are plenty of teas or breakfast smoothies to try.
White button downs are a must have in my closet, whether I am shopping online or in store, I lean towards classic pieces that can be worn season after season, year after year. I love classics that can be incorporated in my business attire along with casual wear. Ann Taylor is having a major sale right now, so you can probably sense my excitement when I found this White Button Down (wearing XS for reference, fits oversize). It is perfect for wearing over a pair of jeans or chinos, also love this Oversize Button Down, Fitted Button Down and this Navy Striped. I opted for a pair of Mott & Bow Skinny Jeans, that fit like a glove and ultra flattering (fit true to size), I also love this Dark Denim (currently on sale), this Joe’s Pair and this Raw Hem. While I had hoped that these Vince Loafers would be restocked from the Nordstrom Sale so I could purchase them in the blush shade, I have not been so lucky, but I am keeping a close eye. I did find several that are budget friendly and absolutely adorable; Cole Haan Perforated Loafer, Sigerson Morrison Slip On, Saks Pointed Toe Flat. My two wish list items for the fall are these Everlane Oxfords and these M.Gemi Loafers.
Hope you all have an amazing day!
